Projects
Our club is involved in a variety of projects that involve fundraising, community service, and assisting children locally and worldwide.  Below are the projects in which we are currently involved:

Project NameDescriptionContact
Cell Phones for Soldiers This is a very worthwhile Community Service project. Old cell phones are converted into telephone calling cards and given to our military personnel that are serving our Nation overseas. Calling loved ones from Iraq or Afghanistan can be very expensive. These calling cards will provide free phone calls to our service men and women who are overseas serving their country. Larry Brown
Division 21 Kiwanis Kid's Fishing Day This is an ongoing Youth Services Project that includes all the clubs in Division 21. In July each year urban children are provided breakfast, lunch, a cap, T-shirt, fishing rod and reel (did I not mention bait) for a day of fishing on the James River Fishing Pier. They are taught how to fish and are assisted and supervised by Kiwanis volunteers. Larry Brown
Magazines for Inmates This is an ongoing Human & Spiritual Values project That works with the City of Portsmouth Prison Ministries. Elsie Sadler
Read To the Children This is an ongoing Young Children Priority One project. We read to the children at the D.A.C. Center for Learning every Tuesday morning at 9:00 AM. John Lyons
Ring the Bell for the Salvation Army This is an ongoing Community Service Project. We work two stations of the Salvation Army at the Wal-Mart store in Chesapeake Square Mall. It is usually done in two hour shifts from 10:00 AM until 9:00 PM on a Friday and Saturday. Elsie Sadler
Savor the South This is a Division 21 Community Service Project. It is a fund raising project for Edmarc (Children's Hospice). On a Saturday in June food platers will be sold for $25.00 per adult and $5.00 per child. We will provide volunteers to serve and clean up. Jerry Brown
